Hey Awais,
There are some chance meetings in oneās lifetime that are so serendipitous that itās almost enough to make one believe in fate.
Meeting you was one such instance; I remember it like yesterday (twas my wedding day after all), running along, in my groove, when I overheard a scrawny little boy speaking in a squeaky voice about history, cats and Istanbul. I immediately knew that I wanted to be a part of this conversation, and the rest is history.
We made the mistake of going out for a sub-hour 10K. Both of us got the wind knocked clean out of us and crossed the line ten minutes the wrong side of the target. Look at us. Look what we did to ourselves.
Multan Half Marathon, where we suffered the most. We left the city to run through the night in forty-eight degrees, which is a thing people do not do, for reasons. Nothing has hurt more, before or since.
A peace sign and a thumbs up, which between us covers the full range of available human emotion.
The day before my birthday. I came home and walked into a house you and Anam had quietly strung with lights and all manner of decor.
You have become one of my closest friends in a very short span of time. I appreciate all the memories we made together, all the things we got up to. And I am proud, proud of you and proud to call you my friend.
Wishing you a beautiful year filled with happiness and all sorts of grand adventures.
